Participants will be having a great opportunity to get feedback and consultancy on their projects by the mentioned experts. The workshop is focused on improving and developing methodological skills in order to contribute to on-going projects in LCSR network.

Christian Welzel (Leuphana University, Germany), Eric Uslaner (University of Maryland), Fabrizio Zilibotti (Zurich University, Switzerland), Arne Kalleberg (University of North Carolina) are scheduled to be keynote speakers.

The workshop will cover a wide range of academic and social issues: value shift in Russia and in the world, subjective well-being and living standards, inter-religious and interethnic relations, migration and many other topics. Ronald Inglehart (University of Michigan, USA), Christian Welzel (Leuphana University, Germany), Eduard Ponarin (NRU HSE, St. Petersburg, Russia) Jan Delhey (Jacobs University, Bremen, Germany), and Christian Haerpfer (University of Aberdeen, Scotland; the President of the World Value Survey Association) are scheduled to be keynote speakers.

Transformation of values in Russia and in the world, subjective well-being and the quality of life, inter-confessional relations, migration, etc. are among the topics of the seminar. Researchers from many universities and scientific centers of Russia, CIS, Germany, Israel and USA will participate as presenters and discussants at this workshop. Among them are Ronald Inglehart (University of Michigan, USA), Christian Welzel (Leuphana University, Germany), Eduard Ponarin (HSE, Saint-Petersburg, Russia), Marcel Das (Tilburg University), Stefan Hradil (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz), Arye Rattner (University of Haifa), Benjamin Lind (HSE), Malina Voicu (EUROLAB, GESIS) and some other prominent scholars. Winners of the contest for associate membership will present their new projects at the workshop.
- Second International Workshop, April 23-27, 2012
The LCSR organized the 2nd International Research Workshop in Saint Petersburg on April 23-27, 2012. The workshop brought together researchers from different cities of Russia and the CIS, as well as prominent western scholars from Sweden, Germany, the United States, and Italy. The scientific advisor of the Lab, Ronald Inglehart (professor at the University of Michigan and the winner of Johan Skytte Prize in Political Science, in 2011, shared with Pippa Norris) headed the seminar. Other leading scholars of the Laboratory who participated in the seminar were Christian Welzel (Professor at Leuphana University, Germany), Eduard Ponarin, (HSE, St. Petersburg, Russia) and Daniel Alexandrov (HSE, St. Petersburg, Russia).
- First International Workshop "Comparative Perspectives on Social Values and Modernization", April 24-27, 2011
The Laboratory for Comparative Social Studies hosted the international workshop ‘Comparative Perspectives on Social Values and Modernization’ in Saint Petersburg on April 24-27, 2011. Ronald Inglehart, Leonid Kosals, Christian Welzel, and Mikhail Chernysh were among the lecturers in the workshop. The LCSS staff presented their progress reports while new applicants forwarded new projects.
