The 13th LCSR International Workshop Has Started
Today, April 23, the 13th LCSR International Workshop started in Moscow. Since 2010, the Laboratory for Comparative Social Research has annually brought together established and early career researchers engaged in comparative social studies. This year is no exception.
The workshop was opened with an honorary lecture by Hermann Dülmer, a professor at the University of Cologne (Germany), titled "Testing Schwartz’s Model of Cultural Value Orientations with the European Social Survey: An Empirical Comparison of Additive Indexes with Factor Scores." The lecture presented the results of a project focused on comparing the measurement results of Schwartz's cultural value orientations using multi-level confirmatory factor analysis (ML CFA) and unweighted aggregated means (simple means) used in previous studies. The project results suggest that the derived factor scores are suitable macro-indicators of Schwartz's cultural value orientations for future research using European Social Survey data.
Over the next three days of the workshop, there will be seven more honorary lectures by leading scholars engaged in comparative social research in Russia and abroad, as well as five sections dedicated to various aspects of subjective well-being, cultural change, social attitudes, and panel study methodology.
