Partnership with Dutch Universities
Daniel Alexandrov told about his tour to Netherlands which aimed to establish scientific contacts with the Universities of Groningen and Amsterdam.
Daniel Alexandrov, vice rector of HSE at St.Petersburg, professor of sociology and senior research fellow of LSCR told in his interview to SESL about his tour to Netherlands which aimed to establish scientific contacts with the Universities of Groningen and Amsterdam. One of the major goals was to generate links between the Dutch research centers and Laboratories of HSE, namely LSCR and SESL.
Professor Alexandrov has a plan to organize a unified Ph.D. program with the University of Groningen so that it won’t be just a double-diploma course. The idea is that Ph.D. students from Russia will get an opportunity to defend their theses in Groningen but have them based on the data collected in Russia under the supervision of HSE professors. This Ph.D. program may interest those young scholars who specialize on network analysis, micro-sociology, values and cultural evolution of societies.
In the University of Amsterdam Daniel Alexandrov met Jan Rath, one of the top-famous researchers of migration in the world who established an international network called “Metropolis”. This group of scholars studies diversity of ethnic and cultural components of city life. This fall professor Rath comes to St.Petersburg on the occasion opening of the Department of Oriental Studies at HSE.
