The 3rd Day of the LCSR Summer School: Multiple Group Confirmatory Factor Analysis
On the third day, the school participants learned multiple group confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). This method is used for testing invariance of a latent construct, in other words, testing comparability of a latent construct across different groups. Measurement invariance is especially important for cross-cultural studies. The lecturer explained the logics of invariance testing (in particular using categorical indicators) and introduced invariance types (configural, metric and scalar). Moreover, the school participants had the opportunity to apply the newly learned techniques to their research projects and discuss their implications with colleagues.
