An article written by T. Karabchuk, A. Mironova and V. Remezkova "Work or a second child: what the data from RLMS-HSE tells us?" was published in the latest issue of all-Russian journal "Issues of Economics" ("Вопросы экономики").

An article written by T. Karabchuk, A. Mironova and V. Remezkova "Work or a second child: what the data from RLMS-HSE tells us?" was published in the latest issue of all-Russian journal "Issues of Economics" ("Вопросы экономики").

The authors demonstrated how the availability of work and its characteristics might affect a woman's desire to have a second (or a third) child. Moreover, the probability of giving a birth to a second and subsequent number of a child was estimated. The quantitative data of individual questionnaires of household survey "The Russia Longitudinal Monitoring Survey- Higher School of Economics" (RLMS HSE) was used as an empirical basis for the research.  The availability of work, large number of working hours and high wages are associated with the lack of children in the family of Russian women or having only one child. However, the high wage rate of both spouses has a positive effect on the reproductive intentions of women.
