XVI April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development got started. LCSR holds a special international workshop called “Social and Cultural changes in cross-national perspective: Subjective Well-being, Trust, Social capital and Values”. Eric Uslaner (University of Maryland) opens the lectures with the research "The Historical Roots of Corruption".

XVI April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development got started on April 7. LCSR holds a special international workshop called “Social and Cultural changes in cross-national perspective: Subjective Well-being, Trust, Social capital and Values”. 

Eric Uslaner (University of Maryland) opens the lectures with the research "The Historical Roots of Corruption". The key concept of the lecture was that levels of education across 78 countries in 1870 strongly predict corruption in 2010. Historical levels of education reflect levels of equality across countries, which demonstrate strong ‘path dependence’ over time. During the discussion after the lecture, it was remarked that "Nobody likes corruption but some people can’t find a way to avoid it".
