International Master Program in Comparative Sociology
will be opened in September 2014 on the basis of LCSR
A new two-year international master program in comparative sociology will be opened in September 2014 on the basis of the Laboratory for Comparative Social Research. Training will be conducted in English by LCSR staff and visiting foreign scholars. Scholarships that completely cover the costs of training will be provided for the best students. Graduates of the program will receive an internationally recognized Master degree in sociology. In the near future we also plan to launch a joint Master program with distinguished foreign universities.
The supervisor of the program is Ronald Inglehart, professor of political science at the University of Michigan, a famous American scientist and a winner of the Johan Skytte Prize (the most prestigious award in political science). Director of the program is Christopher Swader - associate professor at the Higher School of Economics, PhD at the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences, a creative young scholar who is actively publishing papers in international peer-reviewed journals.
This program will provide students with the necessary academic skills to compete successfully in the international research market in academic and business fields. Students will also gain knowledge in the planning and implementation of applied research that is in-demand by organizations such as the World Bank, UNESCO, UNICEF and others. The training will take place in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as in foreign partner universities. Academic supervisors of the Master theses will be Russian and foreign scholars from the Laboratory for Comparative Social Research and partnering research centers.
