Multilevel Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Multilevel Structural Equation Modeling

3rd LCSR Summer School starts today

The Third LCSR Summer School on Multilevel Confirmatory Factor Analysis (MCFA) and Multilevel Structural Equation Modeling (MSEM) in MPLU S” starts today in Zelenogorsk, Saint-Petersburg. This year the event is attended by participants not only from different Russian universities, but also from Belarus, Ukraine, Germany, Israel, Italy, and Poland.
The goal of this summer school is to provide assistance for graduate students, university faculty, and social scientists in developing their skills in quantitative methods with focus on multilevel latent variable modeling. The summer school schedule consists of one main course and two additional optional courses.
The main two-weeks course “Multilevel Confirmatory Factor Analysis (MCFA) and Multilevel Structural Equation Modeling (MSEM) in MPLUS” will be delivered by professor Hermann Dülmer (University of Cologne), a well-known methodologist who is currently the head of Data Archive for the Social Sciences in GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences. He is an extremely experienced lecturer in teaching multilevel analysis at various summer schools (for example Summer School on Multilevel Analysis in Lisbon, LCSR summer school of 2011). Kirill Zhirkov (MSc, Utrecht University; M.A., European University at Saint Petersburg), a LCSR research fellow, will be assisting during the course to Professor Dülmer. Two smaller optional courses are scheduled for the both weeks of the summer school. First week optional course on “LATEX for Social Scientists” will be given by Alexander Kustov (PhD student of Princeton University). Second week optional course on “Data Analysis using R and SQL” will be given by Irina Nikiforova (PhD, Georgia Institute of Technology) who is currently a research fellow at HSE, St. Petersburg.
Guest lectures on relevant methodological issues of cross-cultural studies are scheduled, including talks given by Yuriy Savelyev (National Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv, Ukraine), Bogdan Voicu   (Research Institute for Quality of Life of the Romanian Academy of Sciences), Malina Voicu (European Data Laboratory for Comparative Social Research (EUROLAB), GESIS), and Francesco Sarracino (National Institute of Statistics of Luxembourg). The members of the LCSR International Research Network will present progress reports on their projects during after lunch sessions of the Summer School. The winners of the 9th call for associate membership will present their proposals as well.
