This paper is devoted to the micro-analysis of material intergenerational transfers in Russia. The author describes the characteristics of the main transfer directions which are distributed in family groups in Russia, and analyses the factors of descending transfer direction. An empirical basis for analysis is non-governmental longitudinal household survey "Russian Longitudinal Monitoring Survey" (RLMS). The main results of the study are as follows. Intergenerational transfers are characterized by significant average size, even in comparison with other key sources of the family income, as a pension and earnings. The most significant flow in terms of the prevalence, the average size and frequency is transfers from parents to children. Age and educational level of parents have the strongest impact on the downstream flow of material transfers in Russia.
