December, 7 — regular seminar

Event ended

Topic: “Demand for stronger regulation of migration flows due to uncertainty avoidance amongcitizens without any opinion about migrants' impact on their countries”
Speaker: Aleksey Domanov (PhD student, MGIMO-University)

The Laboratory for Comparative Social Research announces the next regular seminar, which will be held in Moscow (Krivokolenny Pereulok, 3, room 3-333) on December, 7 at 18-00 p.m. Aleksey Domanov (PhD student, MGIMO-University) will deliver a report “Demand for stronger regulation of migration flows due to uncertainty avoidance amongcitizens without any opinion about migrants' impact on their countries”

The given study touches upon reasons for advancing policy claims without considering the situation in the policy area to be problematic. By analyzing this phenomenon at the example of immigration policy formulation, the author attempts at joining traditional factors of migrants perception with those suggested by risk-related and cognitive approach. The hypothesis is tested on the multilevel data of the most recent European Social Survey round (number 8, conducted in 2016).

Working language is English.

Videoconference with St. Petersburg office of the LCSR (room 303, 55-2, Sedova st.) will be provided. Guests from St. Petersburg are invited to make a request for a pass to the building to Olesya Volchenko (ovolchenko@hse.ru) by 12 am of the seminar’s day.

Guests from Moscow are invited to make a request for a pass to the building to Tereza Tonyan (ttonyan@hse.ru) by 12 am of the seminar’s day.

Also after the seminar a videotape will be put up after the summary of the presentation.
