Professor of Political Science at ITAM University, Mexico

«Congratulations to everyone at the LCSR on its 15th anniversary, for all its academic achievements, and for providing us, your friends and colleagues, with a very special space to learn and share social science research. I wish you many more years of success, and hope you continue to promote the legacy, theory, and ideas of Ronald F. Inglehart».

Plamen Akaliyski
Assistant Professor at Lingnan University, Hong Kong

«My first ever international conference as a young PhD student was organized by LCSR in Moscow, and I will never forget how stunned I was to find myself in the same room with Ronald Inglehart, one of my academic heroes. From the very beginning, LCSR’s focus on cross-cultural research resonated profoundly with, and perhaps even shaped, my academic interests, and the conferences and workshops became the most stimulating academic events of my year. I rarely missed a November conference or an April workshop, and through them I met wonderful colleagues with whom I remain in close contact and continue to collaborate. I was deeply saddened that the pandemic, and later the war, abruptly interrupted this long tradition. Yet, I remain hopeful that when the situation allows, I will return and resume the close collaboration that has always meant so much to me. Congratulations on the 15th anniversary, and thank you for creating a community that has inspired so many of us!»

«Dear LCSR family, warmest congratulations on this remarkable anniversary of 15 years old! It was so much fun, inspiration, excitement and rewarding to be part of the founding years with you! I think we all cherish those moments with Ron, Chris and many others during our summer schools, spring workshops and fall conferences. We managed to pass through all the challenges, bring in the best minds in comparative social studies, spark scholarly collaboration across the oceans, establish the hub for young researchers for training and growth, create long-lasting co-authorships for years that led to fruitful publications and high citations. I am proud, honored and happy to share this moment of joy with you and wish all of you further success, achievements and prosperity».

Hermann Duelmer
Assistant Professor at University of Cologne, Köln

«The first thing that crossed my mind when I received the email about the 15th anniversary of the LCSR was: How quickly time flies. I remember very well the first summer school of 2011 in Pushkin near St. Petersburg, where I taught a course on multilevel analysis in comparative research. It was my first visit to Russia, and the location near the Catherine Palace was wonderful. The participants came not only from Russia, but also from other parts of the world. There was an enthusiastic spirit of optimism at the summer school. The participants were highly motivated and worked very determinedly on their projects. The working days were long: in the mornings, they were introduced to multilevel analysis; in the afternoons, there were presentations on the doctoral projects; and in the evenings, some of them even estimated their own models. I will never forget this positive, inspiring atmosphere and the good conversations I had with other participants. And of course, I will not forget the delicious Russian cookies that were served during the afternoon coffee break. Last but not least, on Sunday we also visited the Catherine Palace, which is an absolutely impressive building. Two years later, in the summer of 2013, I was invited to participate as a lecturer on multilevel confirmatory factor analysis and multilevel structural equation modelling at the third LCSR Summer School. This time, the summer school took place in Zelenogorsk on the Baltic Sea near St. Petersburg. The last summer school I was invited to as a lecturer for factorial surveys took place in 2015 in Voronovo near Moscow. At this point, it was already clear that the older participants' knowledge had improved enormously. But the enthusiasm remained unbroken, which I really liked. It was also noticeable that the participants had begun to form scientific networks, which were/are beneficial for their future careers. Thanks also to Ronald Inglehart, Eduard Ponarin, and Christian Welzel, without whom the lab would certainly not exist in its current form. But also to the many other people, who were indispensable for the successful running of the summer schools. I wish the LCSR all the best for the future and hope that it will continue on the successful path it has taken in the past».

Peter Schmidt
Professor for empirical research and methodology at the University of Giessen

«Due to a phone call of Shalom Schwartz in November 2010 I was asked to join the International laboratory of Socio-Cultural Research from 2011-2013. During that time I worked mainly in research and in teaching and supporting the researchers there to apply confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling for cross-cultural research and especially taking into account measurement error and measurent invariance. The members of this lab were very motivated and had excellent methodological training and interest. One outcome was a paper combining data on ego centered networks and the theory of planned behavior to explain enterpreneurial behavior with A.Tatarko. From that time on I also came into intensive contact with LCSR and took part in some conferences on urgent societal problems, had many fruitful discussions, gave also several workshops on these topics and worked on papers dealing with the typological approach to study heterogeneity of values in Europe and Russia with Vladimir Magun and Maksim Rudnev. This included also interesting discussions with divergent views with Chris Welzel and doctoral students at LCSR about the necessity of Measurement invariance for cross-cultural rtesearch which resulted in several papers both by Chris Welzel, Maksim Rudnev, Boris Sokolov and me. I hope and wish that HSE and LCSR can continue their path as an excellent place for research and teaching».
