LCSR Summer School – 2012 has started!

The 2nd  Summer School "Causal Models and Structural Equations" of the Laboratory for Comparative Social Research has started on June 1st, 2012 in Saint-Petersburg. Both courses on advanced statistical methods and progress reports presentations of LCSR researchers are sheduled.

The 2nd  Summer School "Causal Models and Structural Equations" of the Laboratory for Comparative Social Research has started on June 1st, 2012 in Saint-Petersburg. The event is attended by participants not only from different Russian cities, but also from Belarus, Ukraine, Germany, Switzerland, and Israel.

During next two weeks, the main course will be given by professor Peter Schmidt (International Scientific-Educational Laboratory for Socio-Cultural Research, HSE). Confirmatory factor analysis and sructural equation modeling will be covered. Practical sessions on application of M-plus  will be lead with the help ofZsofia Ignacz(Humboldt University, Berlin). Consultancy hours devoted to multilevel models in R will be provided by professor Eduard Ponarin(LCSR HSE, Saint-Petersburg) and professor Hermann Duelmer(Institute for Data Analysis and Data Archiving,  University of Cologne). The participants of the LCSR summer school will deliver the progress reports of their research projects under the direction of Ronald Inglehart, scientific supervisor of the Lab. Public lectures on relevant methodological issues of cross-cultural studies are scheduled, including talks given by Hermann Duelmer(Institute for Data Analysis and Data Archiving,  University of Cologne), Igor Zadorin(director of Euroasian Monitor), Zsofia Ignacz(Humboldt University, Berlin), and Peter Schmidt(International Scientific-Educational Laboratory for Socio-Cultural Research, HSE).

Since the last Research Workshop, held in Saint-Petersburg in April 2012, nine researchers have finished the projects and will talk about the final results of their research. In fact, they will present the drafts of articles prepared for publication in international peer-reviewed journals. Among those: Julia Zelikova (LCSR HSE, Saint-Petersburg), Maria Ravlik (LCSR HSE, Saint-Petersburg), Margarita Zavadskaya (European University, Saint-Petersburg), Tatiana Karabchuk (LCSR HSE, Moscow), Christopher Swader and Leonid Kosals (HSE, Moscow), Marharyta Fabrykant (Belarusian State University, Minsk), Evgeni Varshaver (LCSR HSE, Moscow), and Olga Gryaznova (IS RAS, Moscow). 

At the same time, fifteen current LCSR researchers and applicants for associate membership will present their new projects at the  School.
