15th CSWR International Workshop Took Place
The speakers presented over 20 reports throughout the three days of the seminar.
In 2026, the traditional international working workshop of the Centre for Comparative Social Welfare Studies (CSWR) was held for the 15th time, bringing together papers under the theme "Recent Advances in Comparative Values Research." The event took place from April 6-8 in a hybrid format: ofline at the HSE Moscow campus and online.
The honorary speakers were Anna Andreenkova, Leading Researcher at the Institute for Comparative Social Research (CESSI), and Misho Minkov, Professor at the University of Management Varna (Bulgaria) and Academic Director of CSWR.
Anna Andreenkova presented a paper on "Life course and life values: autobiographic approach and potential of AI". She discussed the potential of using artificial intelligence in life path research, both for generating synthetic data and for analysis.
In his report, Misho Minkov presented an updated Schwartz values model, based on a comparative study of 20 countries.
The program of the workshop included six sessions:
- Values in a Cross-Cultural Perspective;
- Geopolitics of scientific recognition: the role of international connections in citation and collaboration;
- Values in Russia;
- Cultural orientations and methodology;
- Value Change in Russia;
- Value Change and Public Health.
The workshop gathered speakers from the HSE University, the European University at St. Petersburg, BSU, and other institutions, as well as independent authors. Topics of the presented research include the use of artificial intelligence in data analysis, the relationship between gender attitudes and well-being, cross-country comparative analysis of values, the role of geopolitical context in the citation of Russian scientific articles, and the dynamics of scientific collaboration.
