“The Creative Class and Subjective Well-Being: Multilevel Analysis” (ongoing)

The creative class – being the hallmark of postindustrial society – is the base for successful economicdevelopment and welfare of society. Moreover, members of creative class have an impact on the levelof happiness of their nation by their own subjective well-being. The nature of this impact is a subject ofthe current research. Does belonging to the creative class make people happier and if it is so why? Theanswer for this question is expected to be various in different societies. While in less developedcountries the relation between occupation in creative job and subjective well-being could be explainedby job satisfaction, empowering societies provide opportunities for freedom of choice and selfexpressionwhich is critical to the creative class. The moderated mediation in multilevel model approachis used to test both random direct and indirect effects simultaneously. The datasets of World ValuesSurvey (WVS) and European Social Survey (ESS) are used to answer the research question.
