Remittances: Central Asia and global experience

This Thursday, November 19, the Russian Council on International Affairs (INF) in conjunction with the United Nations Development Programme held a public webinar "Remittances: Central Asia and global experience" on. The Experts were Tatiana Karabchuk (LCSR HSE), Mihail Peleah (UNDP), Sergey Ryazantsev (ISPR RAS).

This Thursday, November 19, the Russian Council on International Affairs (INF) in conjunction with the United Nations Development Programme held a public webinar "Remittances: Central Asia, and global experience". The Experts invited to the webinar were Tatiana Karabchuk, deputy director of LCSR HSE, Mihail Peleah, Programme Specialist in UNDP, UNDP Regional Centre (Istanbul), Sergey Ryazantsev, director of the Centre for Social Demography and Economic Sociology, Academy of Sciences the Institute of Socio-Political Research RAS.

Mihail Peleah presented his latest report about the problem of workers' remittances and the impact remittances have on the donor-countries and the human development of the region. A number of topical issues were discussed on the webinar including: What are the economic effects of remittances? How to make the monetary transactions transparent and efficient? What is the global experience with diasporas and their potential for economic development?

The format of webinar made it possible for the audience to ask questions online, leave comments on YouTube, as well as publishing them on Twitter using #RIAClive.
